Manila: The Senate has recognised and honoured the Philippines "Soap Opera Queen" Judy Ann Santos following her recent Best Actress win at an international film festival.

Judy Ann, fondly called "Juday," was hailed as Best Actress at the prestigious Fantasporto Film Festival in Portugal for her performance in the horror film Espantaho.

Judy Ann Santos and Marian Rivera are among the top choices for Best Actress, while Alden Richards is considered for Best Actor in the 8th edition of the Entertainment Editors’ Choice Awards (EDDYs).

The movie’s “found family” story has resonated with queer audiences for decades, especially before there were actual queer characters anywhere to be found in media.
