For seven seasons, Parks and Recreation follows the ambitious journey of Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), an optimistic deputy director for the Parks department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana.

Poehler explained that she wanted Leslie Knope's hair to be extremely blonde on the "Parks and Rec" pilot. The actress said Leslie is "not going to get lowlights at the best salon" in Pawnee.
