Microsoft has had a long and messy history supporting work and personal accounts with Teams. Windows 11 first integrated Teams into the taskbar, but the app only worked with personal accounts.

Microsoft introduced the original Teams app for workplace collaboration in 2017, with a separate app for conversations with friends and family appearing in 2020.
