Los Angeles Chargers' rookie running back played a whopping 58 snaps in the Week 1 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The workload was good though. Hampton handled 15 of the Chargers’ 16 running backs rushes and logged 25 pass routes on 45 LA drop backs to just six for Najee Harris (Hampton was targeted twice). It’s not a hateful profile if it holds up into Week 2 and beyond.

If the Chargers can win in Week 1, they would make a (very early) statement that perhaps they should be included among the elite AFC playoff contenders. Most of the national buzz right now about the Bolts is that they could sneak into the postseason as a Wild Card team, similar to what happened a year ago.

On Wednesday, analysts at ESPN went out predicting the winner of this year’s annual league awards, including MVP, offensive and defensive rookies of the year, and so on. To the surprise of some who believe Ashton Jeanty will be the runaway favorite for ORoY, it was actually Hampton who ended up getting the nod as the eventual winner of the award.

Hampton was the second running back off the board in April's draft, after the Raiders got Ashton Jeanty at No. 6 overall. The Chargers clearly felt good about Hampton, given that they had signed Harris not long before going into the draft and taking a running back anyway.

ESPN's Dan Graziano is one of them as his bold prediction for the Chargers in 2025 has Hampton taking home some hardware in Year 1. The analyst believes it wouldn't be a surprise to see Hampton take home the 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
