West Virgina Gov. Patrick Morrisey is asking the federal government to approve West Virginia’s participation in a program that will give more flexibility to correctional officers and other law enforcement agencies by granting them some immigration enforcement powers.

Governor Patrick Morrisey announced actions that will help speed up illegal immigrant deportations. According to a press release, Governor Morrisey announced on Thursday, February 6, 2025 that a letter of intent was signed to join the 287(g) program under President Donald Trump.
