Director Jim Hoskinson picked up the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series at last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmys, which was The Late Show with Stephen Colbert ’s first ever Emmy. It’s a pretty good time to go out, as Hoskinson revealed last night on the CBS show.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won its first ever Emmy, less than two months after it was axed. Director Jim Hoskinson picked up the award for Outstanding Directing for Variety Series – a category that is normally won by Saturday Night Live.

Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Pop music icon Lady Gaga performed her song "Vanish Into You" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday night. The song is from her latest album, Mayhem. Gaga won Artist of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony Sunday night, after which she dashed across New York City to perform a concert.

The move means that episodes from Letterman’s Late Night will now be paired with episodes of The Late Show with David Letterman for the first time.

"I hope that it's obvious to everyone in America that political violence does not solve any of our political differences," Colbert said.
