The watch was in effect until 7 p.m. Storms are expected to move into the western counties, such as Jefferson County, as early as 3 p.m. Severe weather is most likely along the leading edge of the line.
It's not every day you see one of the most violent tornadoes in recent history and a historic flash flood happen just over 100 miles apart. But that was the case in Wisconsin and Illinois in July 1996.
The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings across the state, as they stated the storm was a 'life-threatening situation'.

Six tornadoes were reported from Wisconsin to Indiana on Wednesday, with the Wisconsin ones labeled as “large,” though no major damage or injuries have been reported.
"To repeat, a tornado is on the ground. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building," the NWS warning issued by the Milwaukee office said. "Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris."
