Tropical Storm Gabrielle has formed in the central Atlantic and is expected to become a hurricane. Forecasters are also monitoring a tropical wave off the coast of Africa with a low chance of development. The tropical storm is not currently expected to impact the U.S. mainland, but residents of Bermuda should monitor its path.
Located roughly midway between the Windward Islands and the west coast of Africa as of 7 a.m., the system is expected to become a tropical depression or storm within the next day or two. As of 7 a.m., it had a 90% chance of forming in the next 48 hours, according to the NHC.
