A 22-year-old Utah man who was booked on murder charges in the assassination of Charlie Kirk held deep disdain for the conservative activist’s provocative viewpoints and indicated to a family member that he was responsible for the shooting.

The Utah trade school student jailed on suspicion of fatally shooting right-wing activist Charlie Kirk faces formal charges next week, according to the governor, from an act of violence widely seen as a foreboding inflection point in U.

A group gathered outside the Capitol in Salt Lake City to pay tribute to slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who the vigil organizer described as “Christlike.”

Conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at a speaking event in Utah on Wednesday. His widow, Erika, spoke out for the first time Friday evening. Students with the chapter of Turning Point USA at the University of Maryland also held a vigil Friday night.
