“I started racing go-karts. And I love karts. It’s the most breath taking sport in the world. More than F1, indeed, I used to like it most.”-Ayrton Senna. The last attempt to be karting world champion was done in 1982 at Kalmar in Sweden with an old-fashioned team, delivering an useless last combat where he got a disappointing 14th place.

A genuine natural talent, Ayrton Da Silva (he did not immediately use the name of Senna, which was his mother’s) quickly demonstrated how incredibly fast he was behind a steering wheel, initially to his close relations, notably in a kart manufactured by his father.

Ayrton Senna won the Brazilian Go-Kart Championship for the first time on July 16, 1978, at the Tarumã Go-Kart Raceway, in Viamão, near Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul). Senna raced with a #16 go-kart, wearing an orange suit and a plain white helmet with a blue stripe.

Aug 20, 2018 · This is the last kart ever driven by Ayrton Senna, he piloted it around his personal go kart track on his farm in the town of Tatui in the state of São Paulo, Brazil on the 19th of March 1994.

According to his own words, the first karting he had was when having 4 years. A gift of his father, built by his very hands using a lawnmower (with a horse power) so he could be able to exercise and correct the motor skill coordination problems of little Beco.

May 1, 2024 · Senna’s story started on the streets of Sao Paulo in the 1960s where, as a child, he battled friends in a go-kart built by his father, Milton. Bitten by the motorsport bug, ‘Beco’ – the nickname given to him by his parents – was destined to race competitively and, as soon as he turned the required age of 13, the moment beckoned.

The 1979 World Go-Kart Championship, which took place at the Estoril track in Portugal, was decided on September 23, after a tie for first place in the standings. Dutch Peter Koene, Ayrton Senna’s teammate at DAP, ended up with the title, while the Brazilian became the runner-up.

Jan 15, 2015 · This is Ayrton Senna’s last go kart, upon completing his final race he moved into Formula Ford 1600 racing full-time and never returned to the kart track other than for charity events. The kart is a 1981 DAP from Italy, Angelo Parrilla (the founder of DAP) recalled meeting the young Senna in the late 1970s:
