Feb 5, 2015 · It has been known as the Bridge Cafe since 1979. It was built on the water’s edge, as Water Street marked the original shoreline. The Brooklyn Bridge behind it went up in 1883.

Adjacent to the Brooklyn Bridge, the Bridge Café is the district’s only extant wood-frame building. The building originally housed a grocery and a wine and porter bottler, and was initially only two-and-a-half stories high with a peaked roof.

Unfortunately, the place got wrecked by Hurricane Sandy over 10 years ago, and there have been few updates on this place, though no official announcement of closure.
