Our LO will have a Chinese middle name as well since DH is Chinese American. However, the first syllable is already decided upon based on the generation name. Our LO is the first of the generation and apparently the name is supposed to start with 本 (běn). I’ve never heard of any names starting with běn.

While Chinese and Vietnamese are both rather different languages you can potentially use Chữ Nôm/hanzi names to bridge the gap there.
