There are some twenty 'larger' beaches around Coll and a further dozen or so smaller beaches (on the imaginary, indeterminable scale!). They all differ in their features and consequential attractiveness but being an island it should always be possible to find a beach sheltered from the wind-of-the-day.

These varied islands all make dramatic backdrops to Coll’s flower-filled machairs and sparkling white shell-sand beaches. Arinagour, Coll’s main village, lies on the west side of loch Eathearna, and about half the population lives there.

Here’s a few of our favourites: Torastan – machair-covered dunes give way to pristine white sand and scattered boulders on this idyllic beach (pictured) in the north-west side of the island.

Coll is fringed by over 30 stunning sandy beaches lapped by turquoise seas. One thing’s for sure, they’re never crowded! Go for a stroll, surf, kayak, windsurf and more, or just relax and take in the peace and tranquillity.

A large open sandy beach with a large array of reefs and rocks that are home to seals and otters. Excellent for swimming. A longish (15 minute) walk from the road, parking by Coll's Golf Course.

Among all the beaches on the Isle of Coll, Struan beach is one of the best for snorkelling. There is a small headland in the middle of the beach, which means there is plenty to explore within the safe and sheltered waters of the bay.
