There is an absolutely massive statue of Lenin in the square - one of the only remaining statues of Lenin in Europe that is still standing. Another key landmark is the victory square. It is 38 meters high, and at the base of it has a flame that runs 24/7.

Giant imposing original statues of Stalin and Lenin abound and the tour guide gives a good overview of the collection in her sparse English. Surprisingly it's not too far from the Oswald apartment and the walk also features a lovely park just before you enter the museum.
