And despite the struggle of finding room in an already stuffed DVD shelf, putting a movie in the order for the first time is an extra bit of enjoyment I get from buying physical media.

Production order puts "The Trouble with Tribbles" and "I, Mudd" back to back, two comedies that had a a month and a half between them on NBC to balance out the chuckles.

The first season of TNG has the same problem that the production order, broadcast order, and stardate order are all different.

NBC's aired order was based on what episodes had their visual fx finished soonest, and sometimes other considerations that had nothing to do with the saga. Lots of reviews were from people who'd watched first-run TOS in the 60s and many were wishing aloud that they could have had the episodes arrive in airdate order, so they could re-live the experience of watching them as they were first shown on TV in the US.
