May 12, 2010 · I'm looking for anyone who has used a 4-6' 3 pt. rototiller on a Ford 8n tractor. I'm considering purchasing one but I am wondering if 1st gear will be geared down enough for it.

Feb 22, 2012 · You need a tractor that can make proper PTO speed and travel at no faster then 1 1/2 MPH. Fords with 4 speeds travel 3 1/2 MPH in the lowest gear and with five speeds 2 1/3 MPH.

Apr 11, 2005 · Ford's first plow 10-1, was a 2x14 moldboard plow. The 1939 9N tractor was designed to be a 2x14 plowing tractor and sure nuff beats the competition following a 2-horse 1-bottom plow around the field.

Nov 1, 2014 · Now if you wanna talk the 3cyl versions of the Ford 2000 or 4000 with 8 speed trannys then you will have a speed for tilling. Those early Massey's like the TO-35, MF-35, and MF-135 also had a slow first gear for tilling.

Mar 27, 2013 · TILLER: The 'N' tractor WILL NOT RUN A TILLER! Unless the tractor is equipped with a rare Howard or Everett auxiliary transmission. The ground speed is simply too fast without it. Another option if you REALLY must use a tiller with an 'N' would be a tiller with its own engine.

Here's a 8N pulling a general purpose tiller (sometimes called an orchard plow).
