(Plus losing some very close games) Basically I think your assessments are pretty far off the comment about Williams in particular is pretty off-base. Bears have a ton of picks and are in good shape for cap, they need some line help.

Dec 8, 2024 · Have a fire at night? Bears know that humans with food have fires. It’s hard to imagine that at close range, a bear won’t be able to pick up the scent of a food bag. Maybe these bags make odors invisible to bears and they wander off flummoxed at finding humans out in the woods with no food…again, until you start cooking. I use a Bearikade.

Oct 15, 2011 · Was hunting in Roraback WMA this morning with a buddy and had 4 large Bears come by. 3 of them were in the 200 plus lb range one was a stand out from the rest and looked to be about 350 to 400. After the hunt my buddy and I went to do some scouting and came across another bear that saw us and ran off.

Jun 19, 2024 · It crazy Ungie. The past 2 years NH has been absolutely loaded with bears. I see them way too regularly now. It seems the population just keeps exploding further into the south. That being said, I used to hunt in western mass alot back around 2007-2012 ish and there were alot of bears out there then. I can only imagine how many there must be now.

May 19, 2011 · Almost 100% of bears come into a bait from the same direction everytime. See if you can figure this out. Once your reasonably sure you know the direction wait for a wind blowing that way and go in and setup a honey burn, I bet you will get your bear that afternoon or early evening! Stay well!!

May 9, 2009 · One big factor is if the local bears are habituated to the people/food equation. If they are, more precautions make sense. I think it's important to remember that an average of about 1 person a year is killed by bears, and close to 20,000 people a year are murdered and over 40,000 killed on the roads. Bears DO commonly destroy gear and raid food.
