Jun 11, 2013 · I did the wet paper towel test and the black flecks stay black, even if I scratch them apart with my fingernail. Now flea dirt is supposed to turn reddish in water from the cats blood right? I've also noticed when grooming that area that occasionally white hairs will come out that have the same black specks where I would expect the root to be.

Aug 31, 2005 · My cat has these tiny black/brown things in his fur. It looks like tiny particles of dirt, but they jump! Ive seen fleas so I know its not those, its a lot smaller, could they be ticks? They are too small to make out any features like head or body so I dont think it could be ticks.
