With a tiny bit of stretching/steaming, it now fits great and should make a warm addition to my ever-growing-yet-not-necessary winter hat collection.

And the other is a Merino wool cap I bought on sale at Sierra Trading Post for under $10. I have a Filson Packer hat that I acquired second hand. The wool in it is too thick and cooks my head even in the coldest of weather.

I was looking at the filson wool packer hat and the Pendleton wool Indy hat but, just wondering what else there is out there. Fleabay has got a bunch, just cant seem to find anything in L/XL that fits the bill.

Colors we discuss, including charcoal gray, will be imprecise -- that is, my charcoal gray may not match yours. So how do we discuss color precisely?

Oct 30, 2016 · The inner sleeves of the coat are a black melton wool. It's been fulled so it is a lot like felt and allows the use of the coat over a wool shirt or sweater without getting hung up. The Bad: The weight of the fabric is 24 oz. and I've heard from other people who've owned the coat that it used to be 26 oz.

Asking for $55 plus shipping in the US only. I bought this earlier this year. The crown is just as firm as the day it was born. No issues. Smoke-free and pet-free home.

Feb 28, 2019 · I love Filson wool though. I have the double mack coat, wool liner, a couple vests, beanie, packer hat and the merino long johns. All great. The liner goes in my shelter cloth field jacket or works well as a stand alone jacket. I have the shelter cloth packer hat and isnulated shelter cloth hat with the fold up wool ear warmers.

Feb 28, 2019 · Lucky dog to be issued Filson gear! I've got a tin packer coat with wool vest liner that's 20 years old. I sent it to Filson once and they patched/repaired holes worn in the sleeves. Also have a mackinaw wool vest, tin cloth vest, a packer hat and a med twill duffle bag. The quality of their products is amazing but the current prices, whew!
