Did you know we manage water levels on Big Sandy Lake with a stoplog system. Stoplogs are beams or panels that are designed to be set on top of one another in slots on the dam. Removal or installation of the individual stoplogs dictates how much water can flow past them. The Sandy Lake Dam has been fitted with a metal stoplog system, but it is also common to see wooden stop logs used on control structures. While a stoplog system is more labor intensive to operate than traditional gates, it is st
