HMRC told us "these bogus callers may encourage you to provide bank account or personal details for alleged tax debts, in exchange for ‘tax advice’ or a bogus refund. We have had lots of people visit the police station today worried following a call from scammers claiming to work for HM Revenue and Customs. Clearly, the automated message is targeting the D&G area and we even got a call ourselves! Unfortunately, a victim has handed over more than £4,000 to the scammers this morning and we want as many people to know what the scam sounds like so they don't become a victim!
